"It's hard to believe that 12 months have passed since last year's Pedal To End Cancer campaign. Time works in strange ways... sometimes it blazes so quickly that you swear you missed huge chunks along the way... and sometimes it travels so slowly that it feels like your shoes are covered in glue... Time tends to be more important to those who feel its weight in ways most of us can't comprehend. Cancer is one of those weights. My Mom was given 3 months to live when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Three months is what most of us give ourselves to plan a vacation or get in shape or finish a project. Thankfully, my Mom wasn't happy with that diagnosis, and spent the next five years fighting the cancer, fighting the statistics, fighting the odds, and fighting for more time with her grandchildren. She lost her battle this past April after an amazing five year journey. 90 days became 1,825 days. Time became precious... valuable... the greatest gift imaginable... and those are lessons that cancer reminds us about... lessons that too often we lose sight of... For the majority of her battle, my Mom lived with cancer. And trust me, the difference between living with cancer and dying from cancer is astronomical. In the end, cancer did what it tends to do, and it was nasty and painful and no one ever deserves to be put through that.... which is why my mission continues... Because cancer CAN'T! Last year, we raised $6,867.30 in 30 days... and I rode 332 miles in those 30 days. We raised more money then any other team or person in the world!*** Now - a quick disclaimer on that line - the challenge is a world-wide event that was done by 823 individuals and 488 teams so this view of the world is somewhat limited. I'll be the first to tell you that there are seven billion people on the planet - so taking a title of "best of" without factoring in 99.99% of those people seems weird... but the American Cancer Society sees us as number 1... and since you all made that happen... I want you to consider yourselves part of the greatest team in the world! But that was last year... so we need to do it again. "

The challenge is over and pledges are now closed, however you can still support the cause directly. Thank you for your support!
